With unitworx you can manage your IT monitoring with ease. The system includes many predefined monitoring workflows based on proven IT expert processes. These monitorings guarantee a quick start and are activated automatically for suitable servers and other network components. To let you know what's behind the particular workflows you get with unitworx, we've prepared an overview for you here.

 

Windows Server Monitoring

Active Directory

Locked Users
Checks if there are users that can’t log in because they have entered their password incorrectly too often.
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

Password Expiration
Checks the Active Directory if there are users whose password has expired or will expire within a given limit.
If so, unitworx automatically sends an email to this users and creates a ticket, if necessary.

Permission Changes
Checks if there are any permission changes of files and folders as well as the Active Directory. 
If a change is made, unitworx automatically creates a ticket. So it is possible to quickly recognize when an unauthorized change has been made.

 

Hyper-V

Dynamic Memory Demand
Checks if a virtual machine on a Hyper-V server needs more memory than it is intended for.
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

Hyper-V Memory Commitment
Checks if all virtual machines together are promised more memory than the server can provide.
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

Cluster Shared Volume Space
Checks the CSV (Cluster Shared Volume) of a Hyper-V cluster if the space is below a certain value.
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket. The value can be selected individually in percentage.

Hyper-V Checkpoint
Checks if there are checkpoints for any VM on a Hyper-V server. 
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket. Checkpoints should only be used in test environments, not in real operations.

Hyper-V Replication
Checks if the replication of the Hyper-V failed.
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket. If the replication doesn't work, the entire system will fail if the first server is down.

 

DHCP

DHCP Lease Pool
Checks if the DHCP Lease Pool is running out of space or is already out of IPs.
If not, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

DNS

DNS Server
Checks if the device is a functioning DNS server with a working DNS resolution.
If not, unitworx automatically creates a ticket. The respective DNS name with the corresponding IP address can be defined in the monitoring.

 

DPM

DPM Events
Checks if there are events active in the DPM (System Center Data Protection Manager).
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Windows Server Backup

Windows Server Backup
Checks if the Windows Server backup was successful and isn’t more than one day ago.
If not, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Exchange Server

Exchange Database Limit Warning
Checks if there are event IDs that indicate that the exchange database is reaching a maximum size.
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

Exchange Mailbox Storagelimit Status
Checks the mailbox storage limits if they are in an abnormal state that indicate that they are getting full or are already full.
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

Exchange Queue Monitoring
Checks if the queue of the Exchange reaches a given limit, which indicates that there are mails backed up that should be sent.
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Print Server

Print Server Status
Checks if the print server is in a normal state.
If not, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Windows Client

Antivirus

Antivirus Status
Checks if the client has an active and up-to-date antivirus program. 
If not, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Windows General

Windows Updates

Windows Updates
Checks when the last Windows updates were installed. 
If the time period (30 days are recommended) exceeds a certain value, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Windows Firewall

Windows Firewall Status
Checks if the Windows firewall is activated.
If not, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Shared Folders

SMB Share
Checks if SMB share exists, so all shared folders are available.
If not, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Services

Services
Checks if the given service is running. 
If not, unitworx will try to restart the service. After three unsuccessful tries, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

Automatic Services
Checks all automatic Windows services if they are stopped and if their exit code isn’t equal to 0. 
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket. Exit code 0 means that the service stopped without an error.

 

Scheduled Tasks

Scheduled Tasks
Checks all tasks in the root container (\) if the scheduled tasks have been successful.
If not, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Eventlog

Eventlog for Critical Events
Checks if there are possible critical events in the event log (application and system).
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Folder Monitoring

Monitor Folder for specific Files
Checks if there are certain files in a specific folder.
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket. You can also specify certain file extensions and directories.

Monitor Objects in a Folder
Checks if the number of objects in a specified folder on the executor is above a certain amount.
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Time Monitoring

Server Time
Checks if the time of the server matches the timeserver of the given NTP-Server.
If a certain deviation is reached, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Resources

CPU Queue Length and Usage
Checks the CPU queue length and the CPU usage if the defined limit is reached.
If a certain limit is reached, unitworx automatically creates a ticket. The threshold value is 2 for the queue length and 75% for the CPU utilization.

HDD Free Space
Checks if there is enough free space on all hard disks.
If a certain limit is reached, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

HDD S.M.A.R.T Check
Checks if the hard disks have a SMART error. 
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket. The SMART error indicates that the lifetime of a hard disk will expire soon.

HDD Usage Trend
Checks all drives and calculates the days until the drive has reached its limit when it continues to progress as before. 
If a certain limit is reached, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

Memory Usage
Checks the memory usage for 60 seconds every 5 minutes if the average RAM is above the given value.
If a certain limit is reached, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Veeam

Veeam Backup

Veeam Backup Monitor
Checks if the Veeam backups and replications are successful.
If not, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

Veeam Endpoint Backup Monitor
Checks if the Veeam endpoint backup was successful. 
If not, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

General

Websites

SSL Certificate Expiration
Checks if a SSL certificate of a website isn’t valid or will expire in the near future. 
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket. To run the check, the status code 200 is used.

Website
Checks (twice) if a website is online and running.
If not, unitworx automatically creates a ticket. To run the check, the status code 200 is used.

 

Mail Server

Mail Flow
Checks if a mail server can receive or send emails. 
If not, unitworx automatically creates a ticket. This workflow is suitable for all mail servers, not just for the Exchange.

 

Blacklist

Email Blacklist
Checks if a domain name or IP address is listed on an email blacklist.
If so, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

OK and Error Mail Handling

Mail Handler
Checks the incoming mails at $(MonitoringInBox) if the expected OK mailings or different error mails are received. 
If an error or no OK message is received, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Ping

Ping Monitoring
Checks if an IP address or host is pingable.
If a certain number of tries have failed, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.

 

Port

Port Monitoring
Checks, if an IP address response to a specified port.
If not, unitworx automatically creates a ticket.
